happiness is my default position

My posts recently have been quite miserable so this one is going to be happy. I'm determined.

But hey, lets start with the stuff that's a little bit sucky, just for perspective:

- my back still hurts, not as much but the pain is still there. I complained to the spa and as yet I've had no response

- the English football team had another dismal performance on Friday and it irritates me that footballers are paid so much money and yet don't seem to be able to do the one thing they're paid to do. The sense of entitlement in British sport is frankly irritating; inventing something does not mean you are naturally good at it. Effort is, in fact, required.

- this week's emergency budget seems to be about to cutback on public sector pensions. Because giving a public sector worker a pension is wrong? How much is Cameron getting when he retires? Oh no, wait. He's rich anyway.

Okay, back to the good news \o/:

- I managed to finally clear out the Inbox at work. I have my review tomorrow and I think it's going to be okay.

- Doctor Who was freaking amazing again. Have I mentioned how much I love Steven Moffat? And Matt Smith? This whole season has been so good. I can't wait for next week.

- I spent yesterday afternoon/evening with some friends from work, at a barbecue. Vikki (whose house it was) introduced me to her rabbits and said I was second in line for two baby bunnies when they arrive. I'm very excited.

- hils and I are going to see another house tomorrow and there are a couple more lined up ( I think) if this one isn't "the one". As much as we want to move, we don't actually have to leave for a while, so it would be nice to find a great place.

- 25 days to Psych!

- The Young Veins album is so good. I love it. I'm really pleased it's good. Different to other stuff that's around at the moment, which is a good thing. I like fresh.

- The cast of Community on Twitter = adorable.

- I've started my first hc_bingo fic... Psych Zombie Apocalypse people. It's going to be awesome.

- ditchwitchbitch bought me a pair of shorts covered in pineapples. They are the most incredible shorts in the history of the world.

- It's bedtime. :)

I went through a Psych friending meme this morning and added a few people, so if I added you and you don't know why, that's it. It was old, so I felt a bit weird about suddenly chiming in. I thought the internet was supposed to make you feel less odd, not more.

Speaking of Psych, I'm now half way through season 4. I will be all caught up just in time for my holiday. Hurrah! \o/ I'll do proper reviews when I get to them again, but I have to say ( spoilers )

In non-fandom related news, this time next week I will be in San Francisco with ditchwitchbitch. \o/ I've done all my shopping now - new jeans, new dress, suntan lotion - and started packing my suitcase. I'm so excited. It needs to be next Sunday.

I was not best pleased to learn that The Young Veins and Patrick Stump will be playing on the same stage, hours apart, in Texas, while I am hundreds of miles away. Why couldn't they just play in LA so I could see them? I'm never going to get to see them. /whining

I have come to two conclusions today.

1. The real reason Panic(!) at the Disco broke up, is that they're all just too hot to be on a stage together now. Clearly it's a health and safety issue. Things would catch on fire. People would faint. No one Zack wants to do all that paperwork. ( I have proof )


2. The Simpson-Wentz Family is the most adorable "showbiz" family in the world.

Proof? Oh Bronx!

And "Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and her rocker husband Pete Wentz were delighted to hear their baby boy Bronx’s first words - because they were directed at the proud parents.
The pair welcomed Bronx Mowgli in November (08) and admit the tot has transformed their lives.
And the pop singer was ecstatic when the eight month old started speaking - uttering “mama” and “dada” as his first words.
Simpson-Wentz tells America’s OK! magazine, “Every week, I’m learning something new from him and every week, he’s doing something new. He’s crawling and he’s got six teeth now. He says mama and dada.”
Little Bronx also looks set to follow in his parents’ footsteps - he’s already showing signs of entering the music business.
His mum adds, “He loves music. Lately, he likes classic rock and Broadway music! My home life is all about Bronx.”
