Day 02 - Something that inspires you
Day 03 - The five songs you would have with you on a desert island and why
Day 04 - What you imagine paradise to be like

I imagine it to be whatever an individual person wants it to be. To me it would by the ocean. Blue skies and green mountains and my family and friends. I think you feel loved and content. I think everything is as it should be.

Day 03- The five songs you would have with you on a desert island and why

Mr Brightside - The Killers
Still one of my favourite songs. I love playing it loud and singing along. It gets rid of all the stress.

Love Grows Where My Rosemary Goes - Edison Lighthouse
Beyond the fact that it's just a lovely upbeat song, my mum used to sing it to me when I was a kid, so it always makes me think of her.

Defying Gravity - Idina Menzel
It's a beautiful song. I loved the musical and I adore Idina Menzel. It makes me happy. Much like Rachel in Glee, it's my go-to song in the shower.

Across the Universe - The Beatles
My favourite Beatles song, with possibly my favourite ever lyric, Limitless undying love which shines around me like a million suns. It calls me on and on across the universe.

Baby I Love You - The Ramones
This the best version of this song out there. The strings, the vocals. It's sexy and passionate and romantic. ♥

Day 01- Guilty pleasure
Day 02- Something that inspires you

I'm the question is "something" and not "the thing" because I'm sure most people are inspired by plenty of stuff. I get inspiration from TV and movies and books and people.

I am going to pick music though, because it gives me the biggest ideas. I can hear a song and plan out a TV show around it. In fact, I have done that. Any kind of music because it all brings up different emotions and reactions. It inspires me to do things during the day, to dance or sing or laugh. Over the past few years I've really gotten into going to see bands and listening to different types of music, in a way I never did growing up. It has a much bigger influence on my life now.

What? This?

Oh, okay, I see. Honestly, my guilty pleasure is really awful dance music, like this. (Not the soft-core porn music video.)

RP-d with [livejournal.com profile] ditchwitchbitch until bedtime at midnight and then slept.

Day 26 → Your week, in great detail

Wednesday - Wednesday: My working days are generally the same so Wednesdays, Thursday and Monday I got up, showered, checked my email and LJ, got dressed, walked to work, answered emails and sorted files, scanned records and uploaded them, talked on the phone too much for my liking, walked home, cooked dinner for myself and [livejournal.com profile] hils which we ate whilst watching Psych. RP-d with [livejournal.com profile] ditchwitchbitch until bedtime at midnight and then slept. For Tuesday see above.

Friday my day started the same. I finished work at 3.30, walked home to get my bag and then caught the train to Huddersfield to visit [livejournal.com profile] doublefourtime. Got to her house and spent hours talking and eating wonderful food like sweets and crisps and little oranges. Watched season 3 of Black Books and then went to bed at about 12.30. On Saturday, got up at 10.30, had lovely brunch of porridge. Checked the train times to get to [livejournal.com profile] rebecca_star's house. Showered, dressed. Left to catch 3.15 train. Had to change from train to bus at Penistone because of line closures. Eventually picked up by [livejournal.com profile] rebecca_star and driven to her house. Unwrapped my Christmas presents (two beautiful necklaces and a make your own photo snow globe). Ate dinner and drank cocktails at Chiquito's to celebrate Rebecca's birthday. Got back at midnight and went to sleep. Sunday morning spent with Sam then caught the train back to York. Caught up on my tv and ate dinner before bed.

Day 27 → This month, in great detail

See above. The weekend before that [livejournal.com profile] doublefourtime came to visit me and we ate pizza, watched Iron Man, drank wine, shopped for dvds and spent a long time in Paperchase. Went to see Sherlock Holmes for the 4th time, had to buy a new router for the wireless connection and then attach it to the old one for use of its modem. Watched SYTYCD and Miss Congeniality. Drank more wine. The weekend before I went to see Sherlock Holmes for the 3rd time (this time with [livejournal.com profile] hils), read fic, made crumpets and watched season 4 of Doctor Who. The weekend before was New Year. I was sick so I stayed home, took down the Christmas decorations and tidied the flat.

Mostly my month has consisted of Sherlock Holmes.

Day 28 → This year, in great detail

See above. What's to come, well it's my mum's birthday on the 28th of February. I go to California with [livejournal.com profile] ditchwitchbitch on March 13th (San Francisco-Montery-Santa Barbara-LA-Las Vegas-Oklahoma City) to 28th. Then it's Easter. Then I get my hair done. Then it is [livejournal.com profile] flickums wedding and I see Bowling for Soup. My sister's birthday is May 7th, dad's birthday August 27th. My 30th birthday on the 19th of September and hopefully I will be going to Florida with my sister.

Writing. I love to write. I wrote my first fanfiction for Buffy about ten years ago and I've been writing ever since. Last year I wrote over 60k words (thank you bandom) and I think most of it was the best stuff I've ever written. Which isn't to say it's the best stuff ever, but I am feeling a definite improvement in my writing and a couple of things I wrote last year I was definitely proud of. I hope more inspiration strikes this year. I do, have my BBB all planned out and am very excited about it.

Day 21 → A recipe

Since I mentioned making them on day 19:

Crumpets )

Day 22 → A website

Digital Spy. I check it every day and admittedly they get a lot of their "articles" from stuff people write on Twitter these days, but it's a one stop shop for all forms of entertainment information and an easy way to keep up with things. And the forums can be hilarious.

I am going to say cooking. I love cooking, no matter what it is I'm making. From spaghetti to a cake, I find it utterly soothing and I'm pretty good at it. It's something I'm getting better at with time and I hope to improve further. I did make a cake in the shape of angel wings which I was proud of, and last week I made crumpets from scratch and they turned out really well.

Tricks of the Mind by Derren Brown. I love Derren Brown. He's a very clever man with an amazing talent. Nothing he does is "magic" in the sense of the supernatural, but the way he can read people, the way he can see things and influence things, the way he can create illusions that make people interested in magic again, those things are fascinating. I find him fascinating and the book shows the various techniques he uses, the things you can do to improve your memory, your understanding of people, your ability to perform "illusions" of your own. It's very funny and very interesting, and it did, in fact, improve my memory.

Day 15 → A fanfic

Just one? Can I have one per fandom? One per pairing? This is so unfair.

Gen/Multiple pairings (MCR, PATD, others) Forever, Now by [livejournal.com profile] passe_simple and its sequels, Star Shaped and The Lines You Amend.

Epic AU fic about Brian adopting Gerard and Mikey and the highjinks that ensue. Not your average kidfic. So much more than that. The first sequel is all about Brendon (the babysitter) and how he meets Ryan and Spencer. The second sequel is about Gerard and Frank's relationship. If you haven't read it, you should read it, because it is awesome. It makes me cry, in the best way.

And if you want more you should check out my delicious account, which has all my favourite stuff. I guess it's not technically comprehensive yet, but I'm working on it.

Day 13 → A fictional book

Have His Carcase by Dorothy L Sayers.

I never used to read crime novels or detective fiction. Truthfully, because the book covers they used in the 60s/70s scared the crap out of me when my mum would read them. But I remember her telling me about one scene in Have His Carcase that made me go and read every book in the series.

I wouldn't call them spoilers. I don't tell you what happens in the book. It's just a snippet and some background information. )

I meant to to this every day, but in logistical terms, this is the hardest for me to do because most of the photos of me from over ten years ago are with my parents and the ones I have are exactly that. Photos. Hard copy photos. The scanner isn't working so I have resorted to taking a photo of a photo, hence the poor quality. I look quite cute in the original. If the scanner starts working again, I'll do a whole picspam of my moody youth another time.

At the moment, Glee is one my favourite things on television. It makes me happy. It's interesting and the cast has such great talent. I think everyone should watch it.

So, in honour of that, under the cut are 3 of my favourite performances on the show. No spoilers in the first 2, though just clicking the 3rd will spoil you for the mid-season finale if you haven't seen it.

Day 01 → Your favorite song
Day 02 → Your favorite movie
Day 03 →Your favorite television program
Day 04 →Your favourite book
Day 05 → Your favorite quote

Actually this is the most difficult question, because what kind of quote? I quote lots of things. I quote all the time. My entire family does it and all my friends. TV shows, films, songs. Do you know how hard it is to pick a favourite?

So I've picked one from Buffy the Vampire Slayer because it is a font of good quotes. All my university notepads were covered in Buffy quotes. And I don't know that it's my favourite, because like I said that's really hard to choose and there's a lot of stuff, even from Buffy, that's shorter and sweeter and that I use a lot more in my actual life. But this is the one that sprang to my mind and it made me cry just reading it when I went to find it. Now, I cry at TV and films and songs, but this part of this episode of this show has always and will always make me cry. Which is possibly what makes it so memorable. That and Emma Caulfield is a wonderful genius.

"But I don't understand! I don't understand how this all happens. How we go through this. I mean, I knew her, and then she's, there's just a body, and I don't understand why she just can't get back in it and not be dead anymore! It's stupid! It's mortal and stupid! And, and Xander's crying and not talking, and, and I was having fruit punch, and I thought, well (she) will never have any more fruit punch, ever, and she'll never have eggs, or yawn or brush her hair, not ever, and no one will explain to me why."

Now that's an easy one (finally). Pride & Prejudice is my favourite book. It has been my happy place since the first time I read it. It never fails to make me smile. It cheers me up and calms me down. If I could be any fictional character, I would want to be Elizabeth Bennett. ♥
