Supernatural 2.06

Line of the week goes to "It's the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man" because Ghostbusters refs will never get old to me. ♥
The Katie Holmes joke came a close second.
You know what I think? I think there was too much Sam in that episode. He had what? Five lines? Back off buddy, this isn't a show about demon-hunting brothers you know? Oh wait... /sarcasm. Jared I will kiss your hand better every second you aren't filming, but you have to suck it up now, because as much as I love Dean this show is about Dean&Sam. That's what I signed up for. Break's over. What's next?
What makes Supernatural for me is the interaction between Sam and Dean, and I get that Jared hurt himself and he needs a break, but when you lose that, then you lose the most important part of the show. Whether it's Dean's plot or Sam's plot, the point is that they're both there, they're both involved and what happens affects both of them.
There were a couple of scenes at the start when I found myself saying "You know what? Jo's not too bad. I like her. I can live with this." And then there was just... Mary-Sue. Maybe I need to watch it again but I actually don't think I can bring myself to.
Now I'm liking the idea that they're moving Jo into the annoying little sister role instead of the romantic interest role. I can see that in the ep (when she turned up at the apartment it was rather reminicsent of Sam kicking Dean to shut him up in the pilot), and if it continues then maybe I'll enjoy her character more than I have been.
Sam's not going anywhere and I know that Jo isn't around for a while now, so I'm not freaking out. But I don't really care about the episode because I couldn't find much that made me excited. The MOTW wasn't particularly creepy or scary or even well-developed. I thought they could have done a lot more with it.
It has been mentioned in better reviews than this that Dean's memory of shooting with John when he was a kid and the way John looked at him was surely of some importance. I hope it is. I liked that scene.
So everyone now go and read this review because it made me happy and realise that, while this is probably my least favourite episode of Supernatural ever, it was still better than Lost.
