The Other 30 Days of You Meme
May. 31st, 2010 12:59 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
It's so much quicker this way.
Day 01 - Guilty pleasure
Day 02 - Something that inspires you
Day 03 - The five songs you would have with you on a desert island and why
Day 04 - What you imagine paradise to be like
Day 05- A thank you letter to someone who has changed your life
I know it's not always easy, but I am forever grateful that I met you. I'm not the same person I was then and all the changes for the better I'm sure were with your help. I know I wouldn't be as happy as I am today if I hadn't met you. So thank you. Thank you for being there when I needed you and listening when I need to ramble (or rant) and getting excited with me and never thinking the things I cared about were stupid (or at least not voicing it if you did). I love you.
Day 06- Earliest thing you can remember
The first thing I remember vividly, was dressing up as a ragdoll for the school Christmas play when I was four and having to sing a little song.
Day 07- Favorite cover of your favorite song
Well, in the last meme I said my favourite song was Mr Brightside by The Killers. I don't actually know that many covers of it (though I'm sure there are plenty) so it's lucky that my favourite band covered it, I guess.
Day 08- Someone you think would make a good president
Josiah Bartlet. If The West Wing was real, the world would probably be a much nicer place. Of course I'm not American, so why should I decide on their President right? Personally, I'd like to see Stephen Fry as our Prime Minister.
Day 09- Five things you want to see change
1. An end to bigotry and intolerance.
2. The world to be a fairer place for everyone.
3. People to be more respectful and polite.
4. The Daily Mail to vanish into that "crack" on Doctor Who, along with the reactionary nutters who work there, so it'll be like it never existed.
5. First Buses in York to make a timetable they can actually stick to, so that people aren't waiting an hour for a bus when one is supposed to arrive every ten minutes.
Day 10- A dream you had this past week described in detail
I don't remember my dreams very often. The last one I do remember, I had to go and search for something in the warehouse at work with Alice (friend Alice, not Alice in Wonderland, though that would have been cool too I guess) and the warehouse was like the one at the end of Raiders of Lost Ark.
Day 11- Favorite picture ever taken of yourself

Day 12- Your favorite musical artist’s life story
I don't actually know who my favourite musical artist is. But story-wise, I like Pete's.
Day 13- A memory that never fails to make you laugh
This is possibly something I shouldn't laugh at but about 12 years ago I was in Disneyland, Paris with a friend and we we walking through a little tree-lined area somewhere in Adventure-land. A boy of maybe 6, comes running around the corner screaming, slams into the bin/trash can that was sitting there and falls down. Then the bin falls over. Then the door on the side of it opens and all the rubbish falls out. I think we laughed for about thirty minutes at the time. Poor child.
Day 14- Best mashup you’ve ever heard
I haven't heard that many, but I think this is my favourite.
Day 15- A moment, phrase, or song that has changed your life the most
Probably the moment when our first flat burned down and we were forced to move three days later. Everything changed that night. But I think it made us (and me) stronger in a lot of ways.
Day 16- Something that you want to do within the next five years
Just one thing? Learn to drive, I guess.
Day 17- What you want to remembered for
I suppose I want to be remembered as a good person and a good friend.
Day 18- A picture that makes you feel
I saw Ron Mueck's exhibition in Edinburgh a few years ago and it's amazing (if a little bit scary sometimes). This picture is of one of his sculptures and I have it on my wall. I don't know what it makes me feel, but it does .
Day 19- A passage from a book that has touched you
This actually makes no sense if you haven't read the 154 pages that come before it (and the book before it, if it comes to that) but it's Peter and Harriet and there's a reason I love them as much as I do.
Wimsey had never danced with her, never held her in his arms before. It should have been an epoch-making moment for him. But his mind appeared to be concentrated on the dull personality of an East Anglian farmer. She fell victim to an inferiority complex, and tripped over her partner's feet.
'Sorry,' said Wimsey, accepting responsibility like a gentleman.
'It's my fault,' said Harriet. 'I'm a rotten dancer. Don't bother about me. Let's stop. You haven't got to be polite to me, you know.'
Worse and worse. She was being peevish and egotistical. Wimsey glanced down at her in surprise and then suddenly smiled.
'Darling, if you dance like an elderly elephant with arthritis, I would dance the sun and moon into the sea with you. I have waited a thousand years to see you dance in that frock.'
'Idiot,' said Harriet.
They made a circuit of the room in silence and harmony. Antoine, guiding an enormous person in jade-green and diamonds, swam comet-like into their orbit and murmured into Harriet's ear across an expanse of fat white shoulder:
'Qu'est-ce que je vous ai dit? L'élan, c'est trouvé.'
He slid away dexterously, leaving Harriet flushed.
'What did that blighter say?'
'He said I danced better with you than with him.'
Day 20- A band that you immediately liked and the song that made you like them
Fall Out Boy and the first song of theirs I heard was Sugar, We're Going Down.
Day 21- Your favorite medium of art
Eh, I don't think I have one. I mean, it depends on what you class as art. Anything could be art. Books, movies, music, TV, painting, sculpture, fashion, cookery, photography, dance, theatre, opera... There's no way I can choose one over the others. I think they're all important and they all have good aspects and bad aspects. I think TV would have to be the one I'm closest too, in the sense that most of the fandoms and therefore interests I've had in my life have come from TV. There are friends I wouldn't have made without it, places I wouldn't have gone. I wouldn't have written as much as I do. But because its always there I tend to dismiss it, much as I do with music, and feel more excited going to the cinema or theatre because I don't do it as much. But then excitement doesn't equal love does it?
Day 22- Someone you would give your life up for without question
Yay, a happy question. There are a few actually, I think. Since it says someone, my sister.
Day 23- Most awkward first impression you feel you’ve ever given
I think I always give an awkward first impression. I'm an awkward person.
Day 24- Something you did as a child that other people remember you for
I used to take my grandad's dictaphone into the garden and interview the plants. I would do voices and everything. They still bring it up.
Day 25- Something you would do if no one stopped you or if you knew you wouldn’t fail
Write a book.
Day 26- Your definition of love
Happiness. Even if it makes you gut-wrenching miserable, to want another person to be happy is to love them.
Day 27- Your definition of the meaning of life
Love.
Day 28- A moment you remember being completely happy in and a description of why you believe you were. What is your definition of happiness?
Most recently, standing on a cliff edge, in California, looking out at the pacific ocean and the most beautiful view I've ever seen, with one of the best friends I've ever had and feeling totally at peace. I think happiness is enjoying the moment, not worrying about the past or future or thinking about anymore than is happening right then and how that makes you smile or laugh or love or cry.

Day 29- What you live for
My friends and family.
Day 30- Ways you believe you have grown over the past thirty days
I don't know. I'm thirty days older. I know a few more things. I heard new songs and read new stories and watched new TV. I saw the end of Lost and was satisfied. I think that means something.
Day 01 - Guilty pleasure
Day 02 - Something that inspires you
Day 03 - The five songs you would have with you on a desert island and why
Day 04 - What you imagine paradise to be like
Day 05- A thank you letter to someone who has changed your life
