Christmas Holidays

As it's nearly 2010, I thought it was about time I posted what I've been doing with myself this week.
Christmas Day is always my favourite day of the year, being the one day my family can all be counted on to get along. I got some lovely present, (a nice stash of dvds, Vera Wang "Princess" and Paco Rabanne "Black XS" perfume, cookery books and ingredients, make-up and some money. We spent a couple of hours at my Grandparents and then went home for lunch, after which we watched Harry Potter. I don't think my dad enjoyed this one as much as the others, since the first thing he said when it finished was "Well what was that about exactly?"
Then we took a break and watched Doctor Who. I have very little to say about it, except that I thought it sucked beyond anything RTD has managed to produce before and frankly I cannot wait for the last few minutes of this week's episode because the next season cannot possibly be as bad.
We watched Star Trek together, and then my sister and I watched Gavin & Stacey (this season has been getting better and better each week; can't wait for Friday) and Catherine Tate (David Tennant's better Christmas special of the day, he looked insanely hot) before bed. All in all it was a brilliant day.
On Boxing Day I went to stay at my sister's having spent a week with my parents. We watched Hamlet that night (I was pleased I finally got a chance to see the production, since I had to give up my tickets last year; it was an absolutely wonderful performance from everyone involved) and then she introduced me to The Inbetweeners, which is crude and sort of disgusting, but so funny we had to watch both seasons. I loved it.
We spent the next two days painting my sister's hallway, ceilings, woodwork and doors. It's the first time I've done anything like that so I rather enjoyed it. We listened to the Glee soundtrack while we were working and Steph is really getting into it, which I'm glad about. She's very big into musicals, so it's exactly her sort of thing. Finally we'll have a fandom in common. *g*
On Monday night we went to see Sherlock Holmes. It was so much better than I was expecting it to be. Robert Downey Jr was perfect, Jude Law gave his best performance (probably) ever, Rachel McAdams was beautiful, the story was well done, it looked gorgeous... really I can't properly express how much I enjoyed it. Suffice to say I'm going to see it again tomorrow.
Yesterday I caught the train back to York, paid off my credit card and ordered some food to be delivered since there's nothing here to eat at all. I also managed to book the LA hotel for myself and
ditchwitchbitch for March. \o/ Today I've done my laundry and some cleaning. I'm feeling rather productive right now.
Thank you to
fluttering_by and
kyasuriin for the lovely cards that were waiting for me when I got home. ♥
I have no plans for New Year right now. I'm spending it completely alone for the first time in a while. I'm not sure if I should stay in or go out by myself. Either way might be fun.
I'll be posting my end of year round-up tomorrow.
