And because I just want to talk about 3.08 I'm flyby posting on 3.07. I loved that Gordon became the thing he hated most in the world. It's a common theme because that kind of single-mindedness and ruthless in hunting does change you and Gordon was sort of turning into a vampire anyway - his only thought was of blood. Anyway, it was a good end to his plot and while I wouldn't say it was the best episode of the year, it's certainly up there.

Now, 3.08..

Things I liked

Where do I start?

1. The opening sequence with the guy dressing up like Santa for his grandson and then getting dragged up the chimney.
2. The Anti-Santa. I kind of wish it had been the Anti-Santa. I love the idea of it does fit in with a lot of lore on the show. If you're good you'll be rewarded and if you're bad you'll be punished.
3. Dean wanting to celebrate a real Christmas with his family before he dies and Sam feeling unable to. And then Sam gives it to him anyway because it's Dean and they are a family and... I'll carry on later.
4. The flashbacks. Mini!Sam and Mini!Dean are possibly the cutest things in the whole world. For some reason Dean telling Sam they move because "everyone gets tired of your face" made me laugh out loud. I think they did a brilliant job of capturing the people Sam and Dean had to be to make them who they are today (if that made any sense). Dean's complete faith in John and seeing him as a superhero, and Sam giving up on John and transferring all of his faith and love and trust to Dean was heart-breaking and perfect. Dean trying to make everything good and normal for Sam and being sad that it doesn't work out that way.And the amulet! I was unspoiled and only realised what it must be when Sammy handed Dean the package. ♥
5. Carol singing! LOL
6. The second (on-screen) kidnapping was nicely shot I thought. Just creepy enough, with the kid standing there watching the whole thing.
7. The creepy "Pagan-God" couple. The stuff in the basement was gross but the torture scene in the kitchen was disturbing and amusing at the same time. Poor Sammy. *cuddles* At least Dean got to keep his teeth.
8. The final scene. The tree and the crappy presents and Sam not quite being able to say "I love you" but Dean knowing anyway just because it's Sam and of course Sam loves him, just as Dean loves Sam. And the last shot of them through the window with snow falling on the car.. That's exactly what Christmas should be.

Things I didn't like
Nothing. I'm not saying it was perfect, but no episode is. Hell House is riddled with mistakes and that's my go-to happy place.

Overall Rating
A+. Absolutely my favourite episode of the year so far. It made me cry.
