So the internet has died at home and neither
hils or myself can figure out why. It might be Orange, it might be the modem. Either way, it's buggered.
I really just wanted to get home yesterday and catch up and update and get back into my routine. No such luck. *sigh* So this is going to be an extra long post to make up for it.
I went to my Great Aunt's funeral on Friday. I found out a lot about her I didn't know, which was actually really nice, despite the sad occassion. The whole family came over from Ireland too so it was nice to see everyone and catch up with them.
On Saturday I went to see The Simpsons with
otw1980 and Hairspray with my sister.
The Simpsons
I like The Simpsons. It's a nice show. It always makes me smile. It's a comfort programme for me. You always know what you're going to get. It's not nasty or irritating. It's clever and amusing. It very rarely makes me laugh out loud.
The movie was exactly the same. 90 minutes of The Simpsons on the big screen. It wasn't brilliant or laugh out loud funny. It was just nice.
Hairspray
First let me say how much I love the original film. I bought it last week to remind myself, in the hope it was as good as I remembered. It was. It's a good movie. John Waters is a very strange man, but the film has a good message and good music so even if the acting's a little patchy (okay a lot patchy) it's still enjoyable to watch.
The new movie is a thousand times better. I know most of that is due to the streamlining and converting it into a proper musical - if you remake something you've already made you can do things differently, change the stuff that didn't work. It worked wonderfully here.
The cast were amazing, the script was funny, the songs were fantastically catchy (when I get my internet back I can download the soundtrack). It was awesome. I really want to go and see it again soon.
Oh and...
Exactly how wrong is it that I now have a crush on Zac Efron?
I spent a ridiculous amount of money on Fall Out Boy merchandise on Saturday too. I bought a bag and wallet and a t-shirt. I was going to buy a hat but I would never wear it.
I'm not obsessed. Really.
I'm going to start updating my GJ and JF accounts as well (whenever I can get online at home) so if you want to add me I'm "viewfromnowhere" on GJ and "jacqui_hw" on JF.
