I'm going to do these both at once because two very different things happened while I was watching them.

Last week, after Roadkill, I thought "nice but nothing special". It was inventively done. I didn't guess the ending until the last minute. Sam and Dean were slightly absent but I found nothing wrong with it, beyond it feeling as though we'd travelled back to Season 1 and had to have everything explained to us ten times.

Five minutes into the episode I thought it was boring. By the end I was pleasantly surprised.

With Heart I'm sort of feeling the opposite.

Five minutes into the episode I thought it was going to be the best thing ever.

Dean was so enthusiastic and Sammy was teasing him and promising to take him to Disneyland. That was adorable. I quite liked Maddy (even though I guessed she was the werewolf - and that her neighbour had something to do with it) but I didn't feel like she had the same spark with Sam that Sarah or Ava did.

The stuff between Sam and Dean was near perfect. The rock, paper, scissors moment (and Dean ALWAYS choosing scissors) was inspired and cute and funny and I loved it. Sam acknowledging that yes, he did know the kind of sleazy guy Maddy was talking about was funny even before he looked at Dean. Dean in the lap-dancing club made me smile, but mainly because I was remembering Alec doing pretty much the same in Dark Angel.

And yes. Yes. Jared is a hotass and I'd have sex with him any day.

BUT, I have issues with the ending that messed with the squee-filled post I would have made here.

Sam sleeps with a girl and she has to die? What is this, LOST? He can't be happy for more than five minutes or Joss Whedon arrives on Kripke's doorstep to bitchslap him? The viewers have to understand - again - that Sam might also be evil - again - and that Dean might have to kill him - again - and so Dean has to realise that - again - and even though Sam is sobbing and Dean's heart is breaking they can't fucking hug - again?!

I have so many meta-y things to say, I'll have to make another post.

In summation, Heart was better than Roadkill, but it wasn't the best episode ever.

YOU NEVER KNOW, JACQUI! He might! :D

And they DID hug. I mean come on, how could they not? We just didn't get to see it, which is a damn SHAME, DO YOU HEAR ME KRIPKE?

That must be it. Kripke is Whedon's bitch and we are the ones who are suffering. ;)

I know they did. Sam would be broken and Dean would have to cradle him and look after him... BUT I WANT TO SEE IT!!!

I did like the episode, but they can put that huge plank of wood away. I get the message.

Well, this show has never been known for it's subtlety. I'm kind of getting used to it a little.

You know what I can't forgive? Her asking Sam to kill her. I thought that was incredibly selfish and calculated just to turn the knife a little more.

But JAcqui, how else would we understand that this is a parallel to what Sam's asking Dean to do? There's no way we'd get it! *rolleyes*
